“Typography can be art under certain circumstances” – this claim comes from Kurt Schwitters, the German artist, painter, poet and commercial artist, co-founder of the Merz art movement, later known as Dada – even, or perhaps especially, when you can no longer read it. Among other things, we followed in Schwitters’ footsteps in the “Experimental Typography” seminar at RheinMain University. Mercedes Benz
In 2004 and 2005, I designed various web specials for Mercedes Benz and I was responsible for the maintenance and further development of their international brand website. NAIAS Detroit 2004Web special for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2004 within which the product highlights of the booth was presented: the Vision Grand Sports Tourer and the SLR McLaren. Mercedes Benz WeltWeb special accompanying the construction of the “Mercedes-Benz Welt” in Stuttgart, which documented the progress: a comparison between the current state (webcam) and the vision (3D rendering) was possible due to a “virtuality controller”. Rosenrot
A woman without hair: strong and beautiful – a woman after her chemotherapy: life-affirming and positive. This was my visual approach – very unusual back then – for the website of the non-profit organisation Rosenrot, which deals with the topic of “hair loss after a chemotherapy”. The website offered extensive information and a shop where women could buy alternative headgear. Mercedes Benz Mixed Tape
Cool music to download every month – free and legal – and a great forum for the young artists: That was the concept behind Mercedes Benz’s “Mixed Tape” music platform. The music could be heard via a specially developed music player that came in three different sizes. The current downloads were visualised in a 3D sculpture in real time.
